Hi to you all,
long time no see.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the studios on Monday morning 1st February 2010.
In the afternoon (1pm -3pm Wilsons) I will be extending the series of 'Speculectures' just completed with Level One (see earlier posts below) as the Level Two Contextual studies sessions.
The title for this session is:
'Need To Know Basis' - Knowledge. Empiricism & Speculation.
To prepare for the session, please go to: http://www.bwk.tue.nl/stedeb/studentinformatie/offthemap/smithson.pdf download and read there the classic text of Robert Smithson (even if you have read it before).
Meanwhile, form your own understanding of the terms 'Empiricism' and 'Speculation' and consider them as you read the text. Where might they apply?
Underline or make notes about anything there that seems useful to our session and bring your ideas, as well as any other references that this text brings to mind, on Monday.
I will write a short 'Speculecture' and read my own thoughts on this title, then invite your questions and discussion.
best wishes, and I look forward to working with you all again.
Paul O'Kane
